Salt reduction

When we talk about salt reduction, we’re actually referring to a reduction of sodium in one’s diet. The most common source of sodium is salt (sodium chloride). Overconsumption of salt has been linked to hypertension and can contribute towards cardiovascular disease.

Average daily salt consumption in the western world (between 10 and 12 grams) greatly exceeds the maximum recommendations from WHO/FAO of 5 grams per day.
