Leiber GmbH, based in the German city of Bramsche (Lower Saxony), will present themselves again this year at EuroTier - the world’s leading trade fair for livestock breeding professionals. As one of the leading international manufacturers of speciality yeast products, the company will once again provide an insight into its broad product range, consisting of refined supplementary feedstuffs based on genuine brewers’ yeast.

The products, made from gently dried brewers’ yeast, are produced according to a proprietary process. This process guarantees the highest possible protection of the sensitive ingredients and active agents in the brewers’ yeast, such as B vitamins, amino acids, essential fatty acids and trace elements. The excellent bioavailability and combination of the active agents in Leiber brewers’ yeast products efficiently boost the animals’ metabolism and strengthen their performance, vitality and resistance. The premium-quality supplementary feedstuffs are tailor-made for livestock, horses, small animals and aquaculture. They are widely used in feed for young stock, in breeding and for high performance animals.

Since the company’s foundation in 1954 Leiber have been dealing in fresh brewers’ grains from breweries. This natural brewery by-product contains the nutrients of the barley in highly concentrated form, and excels in particular by its high amount of rumen-stable protein. It is used as a valuable feed additive in cattle and pig farming.

Leiber GmbH has been one of the leading manufacturers of "Made in Germany" speciality yeast products for 60 years. Subsidiary in Poland receives FSSC 22000 Certification Subsidiary in Poland receives FSSC 22000 Certification
Leiber Sp. z o.o., the Polish subsidiary of Leiber GmbH, has successfully completed the FSSC 22000 Food Safety System Certification process.

FSSC 22000, which is recognised internationally and also by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI), was developed on the basis of the ISO 22000 Standard to define basic requirements for the certification of production processes within the food supply chain. Brewer’s yeast products are manufactured for the foodstuffs and animal feed sectors at the Polish plant.

The certification, which was awarded by Bureau Veritas, Poland will allow Leiber Sp. z o.o. to comply with the stringent requirements concerning food standards throughout the entire production chain and thereby to maintain constantly high product quality. In addition to its commendable manufacturing processes, storage, operating conditions and operating hygiene, Leiber GmbH has an impressive quality management system.

By signing the distribution contract between Leiber GmbH and the company PHARMAQ AS, headquartered in Norway, Leiber GmbH teams up with a further distribution partner in the growing markets of aquaculture and expands its existing business activities.

PHARMAQ AS develops, produces and markets vaccines and health products for the global fish farming industry. Their customers are found in the salmonid, tilapia, pangasius, sea bass and bream segments. “Pharmaq provides an excellent platform to extend a broad network in the continuously growing market of the aquaculture industry”, Nicolaus Jungbluth, Business Unit Director Animal Nutrition at Leiber GmbH, appreciates the partnership. Review published on Yestimun® Beta-Glucan Review published on Yestimun® Beta-Glucan
The renowned "Nutrition Journal" published a review on Yestimun® Beta-Glucan. This mainly refers to the now seven published studies with Yestimun® Beta-Glucan.

The field immunity is gaining greater recognition worldwide, now there are already more than 6000 publications to Beta-Glucan. Nevertheless, published studies are rather rare if the focus is on yeast Beta-Glucan and strengthening the immune system when taken orally.

This review therefore focuses on human studies with yeast Beta-Glucan, oral intake, and the effects on the immune system. Yestimun® Beta-Glucan is one of the best known proprietary glucans worldwide. This review emphasizes impressively the scientific substantiation of the effect of Yestimun ® Beta Glucan on the immune system.

The second study of Yestimun® The second study of Yestimun®
The prestigious „European Journal of Nutrition“ just published the second study of Yestimun®: “Yeast (1,3)-(1,6)-beta-glucan helps to maintain the body’s defence against pathogens“. This trial repeated the significant results on the reduction of viral cold infections and reached a striking effect-size of 25%.

The effect of Yestimun® has been proven in both studies within the healthy general population. Therefore our research is in line with the regulation EC 1924/2008 on permitted health-claims. The publication can be downloaded freely here.

Together both studies underline the robustness of the effect of Yestimun® for the improvement in the body’s defence against pathogens.

Yestimun® study published Yestimun® study published
The peer-review journal „Food and Nutrition Science“ published the first big scale intervention study of Yestimun® in their June issue. The present study demonstrates a prophylactic effect of yeast beta-glucan on the occurrence of common colds as opposed to placebo. In addition, when these episodes occurred, they were from the beginning less pronounced and subsided faster.

The study design is in contrast to traditional “proof of efficacy” concepts as all significant results in the present study have been shown in the healthy general population. Therefore this study is full in line with the regulation EU No 1924/2006 on nutrition and health-claims of food.

The acquired study-design was the first one to get an EFSA approval for immune health-claims and gathered a great deal of attention among experts. An additional new study now repeats the significant results over the whole study period, now included in the new health-claim application for Yestimun®. This publication also discusses some actual decisions of the EFSA and compares the effect-size with known immune-ingredients like zinc, ascorbic acid and Echinaceae.
